Elite Edge – Week 47: 📌Networking Keeps Doors Open. Ikigai Tells You Which to Walk Through🚪

Stop Drifting. Start Designing.

Most careers don’t crash — they quietly drift off course.
You stop making intentional moves. You let the calendar fill itself. You default to the same people, the same projects, the same “next steps” someone else decided for you.

That’s how you wake up five years from now… with a fancier title, maybe a bigger paycheck — but no closer to the work or life you actually want.

This week, we’re killing the drift.
We’re talking about designing your career with surgical precision:

  • The people you keep close (networking that actually works)

  • The work you’re meant to do (Ikigai, but with teeth)

  • The systems to keep you compounding power instead of leaking it

Because drifting is for boats. You? You’re building a battleship.

🎯 Career Strategy of the Week

Jesse Itzler’s 3-Texts-a-Day Method

  • Every day, text three people you already know but haven’t spoken to in months (or years).

  • Don’t ask for anything. Just reconnect.

  • Could be: a quick hello, a shared article, a “this reminded me of you” message.

⚡ Why it works: It’s frictionless, low-pressure, and keeps your network warm so opportunities flow your way organically.

Your challenge: Start today. Three texts. No excuses.

🧭 Bonus Exercise: Find Your Ikigai Using ChatGPT

Ikigai — Japanese for “a reason for being” — is where four things intersect:

  1. What you love

  2. What you’re good at

  3. What the world needs

  4. What you can be paid for

When all four overlap, you’ve found the work that fuels you, pays you, and fulfills you.

Why it matters:
Without it, you risk drifting — chasing titles or pay bumps without knowing whether the work is even aligned with your purpose.

💬 ChatGPT Prompts to Find Your Ikigai

Copy + paste each prompt into ChatGPT, answer honestly, and let it help you find your intersections:

  1. "List 10 things I truly enjoy doing, both in and outside of work. Ask follow-up questions to help me go deeper."

  2. "List 10 things I’m naturally skilled at or have developed mastery in. Ask for examples from my past experiences to clarify."

  3. "List 10 problems or needs in the world (or in my industry) that I care about solving."

  4. "List 10 ways I could get paid for solving those problems or using my skills, based on my background and experience."

  5. "Now, analyze my answers to find the overlaps between what I love, what I’m good at, what the world needs, and what I can be paid for. Present my Ikigai in a concise statement, plus 3 potential career directions or projects that align with it."

💡 Pro Tip: The sharper your inputs, the more useful the output. Don’t rush it.

📚What I Read This Week…

Unemployed Americans Endure Longer Job Searches in a Cooling Market — The job market is slowing, and it’s hitting job seekers where it hurts: time. The average length of unemployment is now stretching longer as fewer roles open up and competition tightens. For candidates, this means the “spray and pray” approach is officially dead — you need a targeted strategy, a warm network, and a narrative that sets you apart.

🎙️What I Listened to This Week… (Podcasts)

💼 Job Market News

  • Hiring Pulse: Openings are down in some sectors, but finance, AI, and healthtech are still holding strong. The competition is heating up — this is when your network matters most.

📌 Elite Edge Takeaway

Networking keeps the doors open.
Ikigai tells you which doors to walk through.
Do both — and you’ll stop wandering and start compounding.

You’ve got the Edge. Now sharpen it.
