The Elite Edge: šŸ“„ Your Résumé is Silent. šŸ”Š Your Brand Shouldn’t Be.

Doing The Research For You.

In partnership with

šŸ‘‹ Welcome to Week 28, Elite Edge Fam!

Your Work Doesn’t Speak for Itself. You Do.

Once upon a time, being smart was enough.

You kept your head down, did excellent work, and expected the right people to notice. Maybe they did. Maybe it even got you promoted once or twice.

But in 2025? That mindset is a liability.

We're operating in a world where visibility equals credibility, and if you're not known, you're overlooked. Simple as that.

Let’s rewind for a second…

🧠 In the late 20th century, knowledge was power.
You got ahead by being the expert in the room. Degrees, titles, certifications — these were your currency. If you were the most qualified, you were the most valued.

šŸ¤ In the early 2000s, relationships became the currency.
LinkedIn changed everything. Networking events, alumni mixers, warm intros — the relational economy ruled.

šŸ“± Then came the social era.
Suddenly, access wasn’t controlled by gatekeepers. Platforms like YouTube, Twitter, and Instagram democratized visibility. If you had something to say, you could build a platform — and people would listen.

šŸ“£ Now, we’re deep in the attention economy.

It’s not what you know.
It’s not even who you know.
It’s who knows you.

That shift? It’s massive. And it's measurable:

šŸ“Š According to Nielsen, 92% of people trust recommendations from individuals over brands, even if they don’t know them personally.
šŸ“Š BrandWatch found that 77% of consumers are more likely to buy from a company whose CEO uses social media.
šŸ“Š Executives with strong personal brands are seen as more trustworthy, influential, and capable of leading high-performing companies.

So let’s be real…

āœ… Your rĆ©sumĆ©? Just a receipt.
āœ… Your network? Silent until it’s convenient.
āœ… Your company’s brand? Great — but it’s not yours.

Today, your personal brand is your most valuable asset.

Because people Google you before they meet you.
They scroll before they schedule.
They judge your value before you even speak.

If you’re not shaping your reputation — the algorithm is.

And that’s why personal branding isn’t optional anymore. It’s not about chasing clout. It’s not narcissism. It’s reputation management at scale.

šŸ”„ This Week’s Challenge:

āœ… Google yourself.
āœ… Ask: Would I hire me based on what shows up?
āœ… Then take one step today to own your narrative — post a video, write a post, share a win, or speak on what you know.

šŸ“šWhat I Read This Week…

In a shift from recent trends, workers who stayed in their jobs saw higher wage growth (4.4%) in February than those who switched jobs (4.2%), according to the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. This reversal suggests a cooling labor market, with employers cautious due to inflation, slower growth, and interest rates.

During the "Great Resignation" era (peak in 2022), job switchers enjoyed much bigger pay raises, but now fewer people are changing jobs, and companies are cutting back—especially in tech and finance. Experts say this indicates a slackening job market, where there's an oversupply of talent.

While some job market indicators still show strength (e.g., low unemployment), the risk of recession and recent policy changes are causing volatility. Historically, job stayers tend to benefit more in the post-recession recovery period—echoing patterns seen after 2001 and 2008.

In other news…

Bill Gates predicts that within 10 years, thanks to AI, humans may only need to work two days a week. Speaking on The Tonight Show, he explained that AI will replace humans "for most things," prompting a rethink of work and leisure. Gates believes jobs like doctors and teachers will be heavily impacted—but improved—by AI, offering better medical and educational support.

The idea of a shorter workweek aligns with growing interest in combating burnout and boosting productivity and well-being. Other leaders like JPMorgan’s Jamie Dimon also envision shorter workweeks, though many companies haven't made changes yet. As AI advances, embracing AI literacy is seen as key to thriving in this evolving job landscape.
